ARTEMANDOLINE & NURIA RIAL

Il giardino delle delizie

Craze seems to have kindled a fascination for a number of instruments prominent during the second half of the 18th century. Plucked string instruments such as the guitar, the mandolin and the cittern were much in vogue during this period.

Arias & works by: Mozart, Paisiello, Leone, Caldara, Bononcini, Conti, Händel…Performers: 6 musicians & Nuria Rial, soprano

The world of cantatas for soprano, mandolin, violins and basso continuo is a wonderfully refined and original one. The music has been brought straight from Library shelves. Artemandoline has been updating centuries old forgotten manuscripts for a long time now. These musical treasures are full of surprises, having been found in libraries owned by local aristocracies, they recall the music performed in their residences. Throughout this programme you will hear some aspects of the Italian style which made its mark on composers of the time , and inundated the 18th century European courts.
